As learning becomes more mobile, I thought it might be a good idea to start listing, organizing and discussing the apps we are using in class and for our own professional benefit. This site is basically a place to house and discuss apps we are using in Jamestown. You'll notice that each icon is a link to the apps apple site where you can read more about it and link to its iTunes page for download. I'll do my best to organize the apps as we add them. If you are adding apps to this wiki, please always link to the app and give a brief description of what it does and how you/your students use it.

iBooks
iBooks is an amazing way to download and read books. iBooks includes the iBookstore, where you can download the latest best-selling books or your favorite classics – day or night. Browse your library on a beautiful bookshelf, tap a book to open it, flip through pages with a swipe or a tap, and bookmark or add notes to your favorite passages.
-As soon as you register with the APP store, your computer will want to download iBook. This will be your primary reader.

Google Mobile
Google Mobile app works great with JPS Google Education Apps. You can now edit Google docs on the iPod with this app.
PowerTeacher
Download PowerTeacher: Add school. Username: first initial, last name. Password: normal.

FREE! Type in any word and choose languages. Very quick and easy.
Number Line
Number Line is a great app for math. It is a timed game in which you have to place different math numbers, such as fractions, percents and decimals, and place them on a number line in the right order.

Takes you to the New York Times online paper edition. This app wont be free for much longer.
CNN for iPad
Share and comment on news and insights, watch live and breaking news video.
NPR for iPod
Follow national news and listen to your favorite NPR station. 88.1 included!
Dropbox
Place this software on your desktop/laptop and then down load this app. Dropbox allows you to place files into this software on your desktop/laptop and then access those files on your mobile device.
Dragon Dictation
Very easy to use voice recognition/speech to text app. that allows you to speak and instantly turn it into text. Think scribe for student essays.
iBrainstorm
Multidevice collaboration tool. You can share thoughts with collaborators on other devices with the flick of a finger. App also works between iPod and iPad.
Mobile Mouse
This is a paid app $1.99 though it's great. App syncs up with software that you download onto your laptop. It allows you to run your computer from your iPad though it's more than a mouse. You can open all of the apps in your doc. It offers media buttons and Safari search buttons.
